History of TKSS
•1969
The school became co-educational, the new extensions were completed and Technical Pre-University classes were introduced.
•1970
conducted classes from Technical Three to Pre-University Two.
•1979
The teaching staff increased to 130 and the student population rose to almost 5000 of which 3000 were visiting students. The first batch of the 3-Year Pre-University Course pupils sat for the 'A' Level examination in 1981.
•1993
The word "Technical" was deleted from the school's name following a change in education policy.
•1995
The school started to function as a single session school.
•1997
GCE '0" level results were the best in eight years. TK's mean subject grade per student improved to 2.82. The achievement served as a benchmark for the whole school community.
•1998
TK moved to its new building at 130 Haig Road.
•2000
Mayor Eugene Yap officially opened the new school building on April 22. The theme of the official opening was “I Believe I Can Fly”.The school began to offer Higher Malay and Higher Chinese in its main curriculum to its Secondary One Students.
•2001
The school made a leap when it became one of the top 20 schools for value-addedness for the GCE 'O' level Examination 2000.
•2002
The school maintained its position as top 20 schools for value-addedness for GCE 'O' level examination 2001.
•2003
Received CHERISH Award (Bronze) (1st time).
